Charlotte Russe

Charlotte Russe in North Riverside mall is the place to go for the latest trends at an inexpensive price.  There window has lots of signage in big fonts that shows off their sales and low prices.  They also do a great job dressing their mannequins with clothes that make you want to go inside and buy everything.  This window is definitely proportionate and they included just the right amount of mannequins to fill the window.  It is balanced and they have a clear theme/message with their "Up all night" going out clothes.  Charlotte Russe did a great job with this there is unity throughout this window.

Wet Seal

Wet seal is another spot for the latest trends at an inexpensive price.  This window is nice but I think they could have done a better job.  The T-shirts at the bottom are not organized and I am not fond of the way they are laid out.  Also, the hanging T-shirts at the top are scrunched up so you can't really see the shirts.  Their signage is clear and there is a clear message that they want you to come in and buy their Graphic Tees that are on sale.  I do not think this window has unity because not all the design elements are working together.

Ashley Stewart

Ashley Stewart is a store for curvy plus size women who love fashion and love to look sexy but still sophisticated.  They do an excellent job with signage that catches your eye.  The sales are big and the mannequins in the front are dressed nicely.  This is a balanced window with no backdrop so you can still see a little bit inside and what else they have to offer.  I do not think this window is proportionate though.  The mannequins are all closely next to each other and the height of the window is tall so there is a lot of empty space.  Overall, I think they did a good job really showing off who they are and what there brand is.

Selfish

Selfish is another store in North Riverside Mall.  There jeans are obviously what they are about as you can see by the line of mannequins when you walk into the store.  I believe their window is a bit clashy and there is not a clear theme.  The outfits do not flow with one another and they are too close together in a little space.  It is neither balanced or proportionate.  I do not see any of the design principles used successfully in this window.  But they do have nice things when you shop inside they just need to do a better job emphasizing their unique merchandise successfully.

FOREVER 21

Forever 21 is one of my favorite stores to purchase new trends for a good price!  These displays show off their fun and edgy style.  The displays are balanced and proportionate but one thing I would have to criticize is the background.  I don't really like how the sides are showing the inside of the store.  Other than that I think Forever 21 knows  there customer and gears there window tastefully for that customer.  Everything else about this window I like from the clothing to the signage/pictures.

Gap Kids

Gap Kids always does a good job with their window displays!  This is a picture taken from North Riverside Mall.  The mannequins are small because it is Gap kids so I think its great that they put a big sign above instead of leaving empty space.  This window is symmetrically balanced and definitely proportionate.  The outfits are so cute and dressed perfectly.  The signage is nice and big and there is overall unity with all the design principles.

New York & Company

New York and Company is introducing the new Eva Mendes collection at the North Riverside mall.  It is a very sophisticated and feminine look.  The big pictures of Eva Mendes wearing her collection is a great because it makes consumers want the clothing even more!  I love these windows; it is balanced and proportionate.  It has a nice overall look and makes you want to come inside and purchase the Eva Medes Collection.

Windsor

Windsor is one of my favorite stores for casual clothes to dresses.  Both windows are done successfully and have unity.  They are balanced and the scale of the merchandise is proportionate to the window.  The garments are paired flawlessly to create a unique, trendsetting look.  The dresses down below show off their other part of the store which is dresses for special events and the picture behind the dresses show that these can be worn for homecoming.  Last but not lease there is no backdrop so you are able to see the rest of the store and all the other amazing merchandise they have!

Gap

This Gap window is symmetrically balanced and well put together.  It is very organized and simple yet highlights the clothing to construct a nice, casual everyday look.  This merchandise and signage is scaled to the size of the window creating good proportions.  The signage is nice and big and emphasizes their sale.  Gap always stays true to their brand and they really know there target audience.  The design elements: balance, proportion, emphasis, and rhythm come together forming unity throughout the display.

Justice

Justice is a cute store for girly clothes!  You can't miss this store with the vibrant, large printed signage and adorable outfits in the window.  This window is symmetrically balanced and I like that they put signage in the back to take up space to make the window proportionate since the mannequins are small.  This window is an eye-catcher and it greatly advertises their huge sale!

DNM

DNM is a store for men who love to stand out and be bold!  There colors, prints, and patterns are head turning.  Even the way the mannequins are standing shows off their brand and demands your attention.  The displays show off their unique look and it is also symmetrically balanced.  The only thing I would criticze would be to add signage or anything else in that empty space above the mannequins in the bottom picture.  The height of the window is very tall so there should be something to fill up that space to make it more proportionate.  Other than that there is unity with this window and I think they did a good job.

Footlocker

Footlocker always has eye-catching windows! There is rhythm and repetition with the colors with the hats lined up throughout the walls and there signage pops out and speaks to you.  This window is balanced, proportionate, and has unity.

The Modern Man

The Modern Man is a store in North Riverside mall for dress clothes.  This window is not proportionate or balanced.  There is too much merchandise and mannequins in these windows that it looks disorganized and cluttered.  When I think of a man's suit and dress wear shop I think of an organized, sharp, sophisticated store and that is not the vibe that I get when looking at this window.   They do have nice suits and dress clothes but sometimes less is more!  Also, some of the mannequins have heads and some do not which is a bit odd.  The half of the upper body lined up on the floor is also weird to me.  This store is great for the Modern man but they need to do a better job with their window display because there is no unity.

Express

This window is from Express located in North Riverside Park Mall.  I love the black and white theme and the iconic modern look.  I want all these clothes! They have a clear message and look and you can certainly tell this is an Express window.  They are consistent with their brand and you can see that with this display done so successfully.  All the principles of design are exemplified tremendously.  It is asymmetrically balanced and proportionate.  There is rhythm with the colors and in a whole this window is excellent with unity.

Francesca's

Francesca's is located in Bloomington, Illinois.  They show off not only their clothing but lots of their accessories.  They really showed how you can piece together the garments to create a unique look.  I like this window but I think it is a little too much.  It is a bit unorganized and showed off a bit too much merchandise.  The merchandise is proportionate to the window and most of the elements of design are utilized successfully.

Bath & Body Works

Bath & Body works is showing off their new product with this window.  It definitely grabs your attention with the lights around the window and the deep purple color.  I think they hit it on the money with this one.  It makes you want to buy their product.  It is balanced and proportionate and I love the color scheme.  The big bow at the top left and the lights make you want to buy this product as a Christmas gift for your loved one or even spoil yourself!

Loft

The Loft is the spot to go for nice, trendy, casual clothes.  There windows show their brand and who they are very well.  I really like how the mannequins are balanced and proportionate.  The scale of the merchandise is scaled perfectly to the size of the window.  The colors are great for this season and I think overall they did a good job with their window displays.
