Acme Comics

Acme comics is located in Uptown Normal.  The weird mannequins are strange but cool.   Even for people who aren't comic fans, the odd mannequins capture your attention and draw you to the merchandise.  The superhero masks add to the whole comic book theme.  This display is balanced and shows a lifestyle.  Overall, this is a very creative and successful display.

The Garlic Press

The Garlic Press is a popular store in Uptown Normal.  This window display stood out because of its uniqueness, signage, and cute merchandise. The window really showcases the essence of this store. They did a really good job with the colors, balance, and proportion.  The colors of the bowls and other kitchenware correlated with the apron to create a fun and inviting look. The scale of the items is proportionate to the size of the window and the equality of visual weight is distributed evenly. The window is covered without being too cluttered and disorganized.  I believe this is a window effectively shows unity because it is a good example of design elements working together to create a successful window.  The Garlic Press window sends a clear message of what their store is and makes you want to come inside and buy everything!

The Pod

The Pod is cute store located in Uptown Normal.  The bright colors really grab your attention.  There is lots of merchandise in this window and there is no clear focal point.  My eyes traveled up and down due to vertical lines of fabric in the background but overall I'm not really sure where to look.  On a positive note, the window does a good job of promoting a lifestyle and it is very unique.

Apricot Lane

Apricot Lane, located in Uptown Normal, is a boutique all girls on campus shop at for the hottest trends!  They have window displays in the front as well as on the side to attract people who are walking by.  There was no backdrop on the front display which allows you to see the inside of the store and the other merchandise they carry.  The proportion of the mannequins and merchandise to the scale of the window is proportionate.  This display is very balanced but the props used are too small.  It took a while for me to realize those were pencils that were hanging.  I wasn't really feeling that at all!  Other than that I believe their window displays were successful and they really made you want to come in and buy their clothes.
