Express
This Express window definitely commands your attention! It presents an up-to-date style of military dress. The mannequins are in a powerful stance demanding to capture your interest. It is asymmetrically balanced and the mannequins and merchandise are scaled to the window making it proportionate. There is a clear theme and message. This display makes me want to browse inside and buy modern military inspired apparel! I believe Express lived up to their brand with this window.
American Eagle
American Eagle completely represented their brand with these windows. The pictures and the way the mannequins are dressed shows the American Eagle lifestyle. Their signage welcomes you to come in for their sale and the clothing exemplifies this seasons latest trends. Everyone loves flannel during fall so I absolutely adored how they used repetition and rhythm with the rows of hanging flannel shirts. These windows are balanced and united. All in all it is visually appealing and professionally executed.
Footlocker
“It’s a shoe that shows both sides of my personality. If you look in the front, it’s kind of calm, cool, just like me off the court. But in the back it gets kind of crazy and aggressive. So that’s just like me being on the court, attacking, being aggressive, going to the hole.” - Derrick Rose
This window captured my attention immediately! Footlocker did a great job with their display. To start off, every Derrick Rose fan will want to buy this shoe after seeing this window! I am a Rose fan so as soon as I saw this display I wanted to buy these shoes for me and my boyfriend. Footlocker did an amazing job promoting the d rose 4 shoes because they show what the shoe is all about. The message is portrayed by showing an amazing basketball player next to a his new shoes so the need for words and signage everywhere is nonexistent. The shoe represents the talented Derrick Rose and shows a basketball lifestyle. This symmetrically balanced window entices you to buy these shoes so that you play basketball like him. There is rhythm in this display with the colors and there is unity overall with the design principles working together.
The Limited
The Limited is celebrating their 50 years of style! The Limited is a modern women's apparel store made to help the women succeed. Their window really highlights their timeless and sophisticated fashion. I love their color scheme and the sparkles in the top left. The windows are balanced and proportionate. The signage is great; however, the signage in the second picture blocks the mannequin. The color gold is the color of success and achievement so the gold is emphasizing their achievement of 50 years of style. Gold is associated with luxury, quality, sophistication, elegance... all words describing The Limited brand. Both windows did not have a backdrop which allows potential customers to get an idea of the store inside. I believe they did a good job showing their brand and who they are with this window display.

Mod Kid
Modkid is a store in Downtown Bloomington that sells sewing patterns and fabrics designed by Patty Young. This shop is great for crafty mom's and grandma's who love to sew children's clothing! This asymmetrically balanced window display does an amazing job of showcasing the garments, quilts, and other accessories that can be created with Patty's playful patterns and fabrics. The height of this window is emphasized with the vertical lines on the backdrop which gives proportion to the window and mannequins. This is a great example of design principles working together to create a successful window!
Churchill's Formal Wear
Churchill's Formal Wear is a men's formal wear shop located in Downtown Bloomington. I have heard nothing but great things about this shop from their merchandise to their customer service! They carry exquisitely cut and classic tuxedos along with ties,bow-ties, and other formal wear. The picture of the man and the dog on the one side of the window really caught my eye and showed the type of man that would wear that tuxedo; it had a story. The other side was a bit off with the signage. The signage was a little too much and was blocking the merchandise. When I think of how a display should look for men's formal wear I think of professional and sharp, but when I see this window I don't see that. If they got rid of the window paint signage and maybe put another mannequin in the middle I believe it would change the whole look to create a successful window display with unity.
Another Word For...
Another Word For.. [gifts, plants, and decor] is a great shop in Downtown Bloomington. They have a little bit of everything! They have a great selection and great prices to go along with it; however, their window display disappointed me. They have amazing merchandise inside the store but looking at the windows, it just looks messy and not proportioned correctly. Their is a lack of rhythm and emphasis in their display. Their is no clear focal point and the scale of the merchandise is too small compared to the scale of the window itself. This window shows a lifestyle and is very unique so I believe they need to display less merchandise and really highlight those pieces in an organized manner. They can also maybe hang some things from the top to create vertical lines and utilize the space more efficiently.
gigi BOTTEGA
gigi BOTTEGA is a clothing boutique located in downtown Bloomington, Illinois. This boutique offers contemporary women's fashion for all age groups at a reasonable price. If your a classy woman looking for the latest trends at an affordable price than gigi BOTTEGA is the place to shop! This window display is very simple and proportionate but can maybe add another mannequin to both sides. The size of the merchandise is scaled to the window itself. There is no background which allows you to get a little sneak peak of what's inside! This symmetrically balanced window is nicely put together but I believe they could have done more to really emphasize their modern and trendy clothing. I also believe they could have made better use of props and decoration. This display does not necessarily catch your attention and make you want to walk in but you will be satisfied once you do! I definitely think they could have done a better job showcasing their merchandise and catching your attention to make you want to come inside.
